Purdue’s College of Education receives a $34.9M grant to continue helping Indiana students and teachers succeed
The Purdue University College of Education has been awarded a momentous $34.9 million grant from the U.S. Department of Education, a significant investment aimed at bolstering educational success for Indiana students and educators. This grant, part of the Teacher Quality Partnership (TQP) program, will fuel a five-year initiative focused on supporting aspiring teachers and enhancing the professional development of current educators.
The grant will be used to establish the Indiana Teacher Collaborative, a comprehensive program designed to address key challenges within Indiana’s education system. This initiative will focus on attracting and retaining high-quality teachers, particularly in high-need areas like special education and STEM subjects. The program will also offer professional development opportunities, equipping teachers with the tools and knowledge to effectively implement innovative teaching practices and personalized learning approaches.
“This grant represents a significant opportunity to partner with Indiana schools and educators to create a thriving educational environment that fosters student success,” said Dr. David Hough, Dean of the Purdue College of Education. “We are committed to equipping teachers with the skills and knowledge they need to empower students of all backgrounds and abilities.”
The Indiana Teacher Collaborative will leverage the expertise of Purdue’s College of Education, collaborating with schools across the state to develop and implement evidence-based programs. This strategic approach aims to build a robust pipeline of qualified educators, ensuring that all Indiana students receive a quality education and reach their full potential.
