Latino Students’ Reading Level Progress Increases

Spread the loveOne of the nation’s leading child-study centers, Child Trends Hispanic Institute, reports that Latino students’ reading scores for fourth and eighth grade students have increased by half a grade over the past decade. However, between 2005 and 2015, just 21 percent of fourth grade Latino students achieved the “proficient” reading level, compared to 46 percent of their non-Latino peers.
