A Trump Win Would Be Disastrous for Both Our Campus and Our Country
The upcoming election is not just about politics; it’s about the very future of our campus community and our nation. A second Trump term would be a catastrophic setback, jeopardizing the values of inclusivity, equality, and intellectual freedom that we hold dear.
On campus, Trump’s policies have already had a devastating impact. His attacks on immigration have created a hostile environment for international students and scholars, hindering academic exchange and research. His dismantling of environmental protections threatens our planet and our future. His rollback of LGBTQ+ rights undermines the fundamental rights of our community members.
Beyond our campus walls, Trump’s administration has further divided our nation. His rhetoric has fueled hate crimes and emboldened white supremacist groups. His handling of the pandemic has been disastrous, resulting in needless suffering and economic hardship. His attacks on democracy and the rule of law threaten the very fabric of our society.
A second Trump term would mean more of the same: a continuation of policies that harm our environment, our economy, and our communities. It would mean a further erosion of our democratic values and a deepening of the divisions within our society.
We must stand up and fight for a different future. We must vote for candidates who believe in science, who respect our diversity, and who are committed to building a more just and equitable society. This election is about more than just politics; it’s about the future of our campus, our country, and our planet.
