A Cool Way to Help Learners Learn New Words
This approach is great to use, and it is in its simplest form; it is a great way to learn new material or build background knowledge about a topic before the material is covered.
To utilize this approach, you must first select several words from a unit of study. Then the words are to be placed on the overhead LCD projector or SMARTboard if you are so fortunate.
Once that is done, have learners work independently or in pairs or small groups to determine what the words mean. Have learners stretch their thinking concerning the words.
After the learners have worked on the words, discuss how they were accurate or not and how they came about the meaning of the given words.
