To make an informed decision, you have to consider a lot of variables, such as cost of attendance, financial aid, student/teacher ratio, academics, student life, and more. The University of Georgia has a master of education in educational psychology, applied cognition, and development via its College of Education. This a two-year degree program requires the completion of 34 credits. In their second year, learners finish an applied project that showcases the culmination of the knowledge that they get in the degree program.
Learners may transfer in a maximum of six credits. Learners are still required to finish the necessary number of hours for graduation, which likely means completing additional hours above and beyond the normal amount.
The University of Alabama is a state-run institution, and its academic programs are split between 13 schools and colleges, which serve a learner body of just under 40,000 learners. The University of Alabama has a master of arts in educational psychology – learning and assessment through their Bama by Distance online learning service. It is a 30 credit-hour degree program. Learners finish a capstone project during their final semester, instead of a holistic examination.
The degree program is open to educators and non-educators alike. Recent learners have included youth ministers and counselors, business managers, education professionals, and individuals working in the social sciences. Candidates to the degree program should have a minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0 for the last 60 hours of degree study.
Ball State has an online master of arts degree in educational psychology. The degree program can be finished in as little as 18 months and includes 30 credit-hours of study. Classes within the degree program consist of 18 credits of core classes and 12 credits of electives and concentrations.
Learners may also design a unique class of study that does not necessarily conform to the pre-set paths/concentrations. Learners applying to the degree program are required to provide two professional references, an individual statement, and a resume or Vita.
Marist has a master of arts in educational psychology. The online degree program utilizes a cohort-based model, which is designed to be finished in two years. Learners can take online classes during the year, which may then be coupled with short, summer residency sessions that help to provide learners with professional experiences/internships.
Illinois Urbana-Champaign has a master of education in educational psychology degree program, which involves 32 credit hours of study. Learners finish their course of study with an advanced seminar in educational psychology. Candidates to the degree program are expected to have a minimum GPA of 3.0 and to submit three letters of reference. Learners must finish at least 12 hours of study at the 500 level. This particular degree has a concentration in evidence-based decision making, which is why it also includes a class entitled “Data, Evidence, & Decisions.”
Northern Colorado has a master of arts degree program in educational psychology, with an emphasis on teaching applications. It is a five-semester degree program, during which learners are expected to take two classes per semester. The degree program utilizes the cohort model, such that admitted learners for a particular semester will take the same classes together in an identical sequence. This is why the perfect class of study involves taking all five semesters consecutively.
Candidates are required to have either a bachelor’s degree from a sanctioned college or institution. Learners should have a minimum GPA of at least 3.0, or else they will be required to submit GRE scores. Learners also submit an individual statement that covers their background and connection to the degree program/area of study.
Florida State has a master of science degree in learning and cognition, which involves 33 to 36 credit hours of study. Learners choose to finish a thesis path or an examination path degree plan. Learners will then either finish an original thesis or take a holistic exam to complete the degree program.
To apply to the degree program, learners must have a bachelor’s degree with at least a 3.0 GPA. Learners are required to submit GRE Test scores for either the master’s or doctoral degree program, with preference given to those at the 75 and 35 percentiles for verbal and quantitative, respectively.
The University of Memphis has an online master of science degree in educational psychology. Learners build a 36 credit degree plan within their major or concentration. Learners applying to the degree program are required to submit GRE scores. Learners come from an array of distinct individual and academic backgrounds. Recent learners have included ministers and law enforcement officials, with a wide variety of undergraduate academic backgrounds.
The University of Nevada Las Vegas has a master of science degree program in educational psychology. The degree program is considered appropriate for all teachers, along with learners looking to apply the learning in a business or government setting. There are thesis-path and non-thesis-path options for the degree program. Learners who select not to pursue a thesis will take a capstone seminar class at the end of their course of study.
Graduates from the degree program have gone on to pursue a variety of careers: educational assessment coordinator, community college faculty, human resource education specialist, and degree program evaluator. Learners from some states are not able to access the online degree program due to state authorization reciprocity issues.
UT Knoxville has a master of science degree program in educational psychology. The degree program involves 36 credits of non-thesis classwork. Learners take 24 hours of core classwork and then choose a concentration in adult education or educational psych. Instead of writing a thesis in this degree program, learners complete their degree requirements by taking a holistic exam.
UT also has an applied educational psychology concentration that includes 12 hours of graduate study in classes that do not overlap with the baseline educational psychology concentration. Learners taking the applied path also take a relevant graduate-level class, offered online and endorsed by their advisor.
Purdue University is a state research institution that has more than 200 undergraduate programs, over 69 masters and doctoral programs, and professional degrees in pharmacy and veterinary medicine. At around 40,000 learners, Purdue has the second-largest learner population in the state of Indiana, and also maintains the fourth largest international learner population of any institution in the country.
Purdue Global has a master of science degree in educational psychology. This is a 52-credit degree program of study, which requires 38 units of core credit and 14 open elective credits. Learners are not required to finish a capstone class or a holistic exam, but they are required to know the standards for licensure and to finish them independently, though with support from the college.
Learners are eligible to transfer r community college classes, classes at the collegiate level, or even for professional/life experience. Learners from the degree program have gone on to pursue careers, including educational administration, degree program evaluation, and operations research analysis.
The University of North Texas is a state-run institution structured into 11 colleges and two schools, which offer several undergraduate and graduate programs, including 38 doctoral degree programs. UNT has a learner population of 38,000, which includes 7,000 postgraduate learners.
North Texas has a master of science degree in educational psychology, which involves 27 hours of core class study and 6 hours of elective study, for a total of 33 credit hours. There is also an online executive master’s degree program available for concentrations in autism intervention, educational diagnostician, gifted and talented, and research and evaluation. Through its online and on-campus offerings, North Texas has 13 distinct concentrations that educational psychology graduate learners may pursue. Many of these consist of concentrations in special needs learners, such as the concentrations in high incidence disabilities and autism spectrum disorders.
Capella University is a for-profit online institution with its headquarters in Minneapolis, MN. Capella has 142 graduate and undergraduate concentrations. Capella has an online master of science degree in psychology and has a choice for a concentration in educational psychology. Learners take four core classes and five concentration classes. They finish the degree program by taking part in an integrative project, which combines all of the elements of learning that they have been involved in during the degree program. Capella has flexpath classes, which allow learners to progress via classes and degree programs at their own pace. Learners may take two weeks or twelve weeks to finish a class, and can then begin a new class immediately, without having to wait for a new class to begin. The learner’s pace determines the cost of these classes.
The University of Iowa is a state research institution, which was established in 1847 and is the oldest institution in the state of Iowa; the university has a learner population of 34,000. The school is structured into 11 distinct colleges, which offer more than 200 areas of study and seven professional degree programs.
Iowa’s College of Education has a master of arts degree in learning sciences, which has 30 credit hours of required classes and two electives. Learners may choose from three areas of concentration: human development and motivation, technology and media, and measurement and evaluation. Each of the concentrations has five class options from which learners can select their two electives. Candidates to the degree program must have a bachelor’s degree from a regionally sanctioned institution, and a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. Learners must also present GRE scores. Teaching experience is also desirable.
Walden University is a for-profit institution with headquarters in Minneapolis, MN. Walden primarily has online degrees, including masters of science, business administration, doctor of education, and doctor of business administration. Walden a learner body of around 51,000 and are part of a group of 80 institutions in 29 countries owned by Laureate Education Inc.
Walden has a master of science degree in psychology, with an emphasis in educational psychology. It is a 48 quarter-credit degree program, which involves the completion of 11 weeklong classes. There is also a doctoral preparation path available for learners who are considering continuing their graduate study to the PhD level. Both routes involve completing the degree program with an MS in psychology capstone class.
Learners in the degree program can carry out basic or applied research. Walden has a PhD degree program for which the doctoral preparation path is intended to prepare learners. Psychology concentrations are available in applied, general, health, and social psychology.
